The Pokemon 3DS models are already fucking stupidly complex for 3DS so of course they hire advance modelers. Also Gamefreak has never worked on an RPG besides Pokemon internally.

The next Pokemon game will be on 3DS, and likely released in 2018 at this point.

I think (and hope) we will get gen 8 on the switch next year. The 3ds is way to old. It could barely handle sm. The 3ds isnt able to handle wii u tier models. They need to put the 3ds to rest.Also, why woud the ask for new modelers if they were making a new 3ds game? It even says console game on the hiring page. I know the next Pokémon games will be on the switch

if they're hiring new modelers just now that means that the switch game is in very early development, so i would give it at least a year and half more before it's release.
With that in mind it would make much more sense for them to make a quick 3DS game reusing what ever they can from SM, just like ORAS did with XY, so they can release a pokemon game soon and have more time to develop whatever this first switch pokemon game is.

Ash has enough time to finish the anime before late 2018. He already is 1/4 through. And all the gen 7 pokemon were already revealed. So gen 8 is the next step. We wont get a new game this year because gamefreak is busy working on generation 8

I sure fucking hope we don't get gen 8 so quickly yet. Pokemon only survived as long as it did because the new generations were intelligently spaced out so that people had enough time to enjoy the games and make themselves familiar with all of the new designs. Hardcore fans who couldn't get enough could enjoy remakes/enhanced editions in a meantime. Making the gens bi-yearly or even yearly is just condemning the series into the Yokai Watch's fate. The franchise fatigue will kick in very quickly.

And a half years after the new console has launched. Gen 5 lasted 2 years in most of the world. The second gen of a console shouldn't last too long. 2 years is the perfect length for gen 7. Gen 8 should last 3 years just like gen 6 so gen 9 can launch just in time for Pokémon's 25th anniversary .

While Gen 8 would be nice I think Gen 4 remakes are next. If I'm not mistaken remakes come out 12 years after the origanals. And usually pokemon games have a nine month release cycle. So it seems fit to release on the release date of D/P in the west if revealed at E3. Or it could be a shorter cycle and fit the Japanese release date. Either way remakes are coming.

Gen 1 remakes = 8 years after gen 1
Gen 2 remakes = 10 years after gen 2
Gen 3 remakes = 12 years after gen 3
Im expecting the gen 4 remakes to come in either 2019 or 2020 after the gen 8 games. A new remake also comes out every 5 years. I would rather have the dp remakes on the switch. I would rather explore sinnoh in 1080p full hd than in 240p 20 year outdated visuals. sm looks ok but only ok.We should have an upgrade especially if they want to do a remake.

If they're hiring for someone now, it means they'll release a 3DS game a couple years down the line.

More than likely the next Pokemon game is over halfway developed already, they don't start development of the next Pokemon game the second the previous one is released.
