In gen 1 you were lucky to get a thank you for taking down the silph co. building. And no matter where you went or what you've done no one acknowledges you as anyone but an unknown trainer, and can even at times be downright rude.
I'm not saying anything in regards to level of difficulty in the game, but newer gens tend to deprive the player of experiencing personal accomplishment by constantly shoving praises up your ass. Not that it should make a difference for someone here, but it can have a totally different developmental effect on children, debilitating them from self-validation.
