Not ranking games, but in terms of pure pokemon designs:
7 > 6 > 2 > 5 = 3 = 1 > 4
I love every single gen 7 mon, so it makes sense that it's on the top. Despite how small it is, I also feel gen 6 had a bunch of phenomenal mons (two starters, volcanion, and aromatisse aside), so I put it second. Gen 2 felt kind of safe and bland, but there aren't any truly bad mons, so I put it below gen 6 but above the others. 3, 1, and 5 are in the middle because they have a bunch of really good designs but a good number of really shitty or bland ones, too (ex.: hariyama, Bert and Ernie, voltorb, gardevoir). Sinnoh is last because I just don't like most of the pokemon. I don't have a concrete reason, and it does have a few winners like the starters, carnivine, and toxicroak, but overall I felt like the mons kind of went to shit.
Very excited to see where the inevitable gen 8 goes.
