First encountered was a shiny meditite in Mt. Coronet in either diamond or platinum, can't remember which. Didn't have any pokeballs on me for some reason so I just ran. First obtained was a a shiny ralts I had hatched from an egg on Platinum.
Then a few years later I was replaying Platinum, ran into another shiny meditite in Mt. Coronet, same area too(Eterna City entrance both times)

It's true. More rare then double quads then to get same shiny mon same area same playthrough unless you are shiny hunting it.
