>>32662519Art-wise I dissagree. While Sugimori's art is good by itself, the original official designs were used as reference and the mons were therefore just posing there doing nothing. I find early cards that just slap said designs to be bland and boring.
What I like from the cards' art is that they can be art. They can show the pokemon in their element, doing stuff, displaying personalities, even sometime tell stories (pic related), in ways that the games and anime and manga can't.
It's why I think tcg art has only gotten better with time, as more artist come in and contribute their own styles and visions.
