I based it on a combination of factors. I always thought that Swampert was ugly, but I like the first stage enough to tolerate it. Primarina does not get the same gesture, because it looks too feminine.
I think that mine follows the general pattern of what people like. But whenever I see somebody hating the Johto starters, I am at a loss for words.
