It's too soon for them to do anything on the level of stuff like the sun and moon preview at E3 last year. We're far enough into gen 7 that we'll probably start seeing spinoff titles(not moblie) like Mystery Dungeon or a one off spinoff like Conquest.
Compare 8 minutes to the ARMS direct clocking in at 22 minutes and the Fire Emblem direct lasting 19 minutes, as well as how much new ground was covered in those directs. That should put things into perspective.
Heck, they may even withhold some stuff to use in the E3 direct.
