I usually go for the grass starters but I would pick Piplup since he's cute and not derpy and isnt as slow.

Starter picks don't matter since they'll give you a Kanto starter before the 2nd gym anyways.

At least in DP it was the only fire type other than ponyta hopefully it's more of a platinum remake adding the Pokemon from it

Keep in mind that ORAS didn't add any new Pokemon to the dex until after Groudon/Kyogre so don't get your hopes up.

I'm hoping and expecting them to add some new regional forms in there. I'm not sure of what yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some new Fire-type alt-forms of existing Pokémon that happen to be in Sinnoh.

they added the pokemon evolutions that came from Gen 4
