Why do people complicate this?

Unless they appear named as NPCs or with a specific name associated with artwork (like Satoshi was in a book made by Game Freak itself and before they renamed him Red), they have no official name.

Call them what you want but don't twist the argument.

But they weren't.

The only time Game Freak called him Satoshi was in the Official Pocket Monsters Fanbook released in May 1997, where they talked about their plans of Pocket Monsters 2, and where you see locations that never made it like Silent Hills and Old City.

He was renamed to Red later as revealed by his NPC appearance in Gold and Silver.
