What else is new. Seal got best of both worlds as well movepool wise, it was bound to not fail. At least with the other starter type combinations, there's a bit more of a gamble and not perform as well as expected because anything can make it either shine or sink. Water/Fairy? It's a shoo-in regardless.

Starters were never really that good to begin with. Anything UU and above is good, which is less than half. People may call Primarina trash, but it's objectively one of the strongest starters.

Except very few of those starters actually debuted in shit tier. Most of them got choked out by power creep over time, hell Sceptile used to be OU way back in ADV.
That the Alola starters were pretty much dead on arrival is troubling.

Mega-Sceptile is actually UU now. Not to mention Blastoise and Venusaur were already way more relevant than Charizard before megas arrived. Swampert and Blaziken are also good regardless of megas too.
