Did anyone ever notice how like half of the gen 1 mons have the exact same triangular eyes? Kabutops, Charizard, Scyther, Gyrados, Primeape, Fearow, Arcanine, those are just a few for example.

I really enjoy the old art style and the sprites aren't half bad.
I like it when people do new gen designs in the style of gen 1, they look very nice.

Lots of hideous designs in gen 1, but lots of good ones too. It's like an album where you really love the good songs, but you really fucking hate the bad songs. Hard to compare to other gens where the good ones aren't as good, and the bad ones aren't as bad. The good ones in Gen II are better.

I feel the exact opposite. Gen 1's designs are the most "just there" for me - nothing stands out as exceptionally bad or good.

This. My nostalgia doesn't lead me to think anything except maybe a pokebro or two are fantastic, but they're not that bad either. You could call some of them lazy as fuck but they were original just by the fact they were the first
