i feel like its going to be on the level of the gamecube games i.e. not a true mainline game unless they add pokebank and ALL previous games on virtual console. if the switch really was the 3ds successor all this time, then it should've been linked to the previous product like the ds and gba were.

I bought the new 3DS XL when X&Y dropped, along with a copy of Y

Sure I forked over like $350-ish but that didn't keep me from being able to play a new Pokemon game on a bigger screen than the regular 3DS

Forking over $500+ just for BotW wasn't a big deal either

Game Freak only decided to release two paired versions because Shigeru Miyamoto (yes, the one and only) told them it'd make Pokémon more successful that way. Otherwise, Game Freak would have gone with their original idea of a single game.
