Casual players that only need one Pokemon game for each system. Go and look at sales for all main game titles. The best selling ones are always the first for that console, anything that comes later sells worse.

Actually, SM sold 15kk in 4 months while xy did 16 kk in over 3 years, so what you said is only the case to the DS gen, this one will probably have it reversed (it probably already happened but the online numbers we got are from late march).

No wonder everybody considers it the best game in the entire series, it became a best-seller too.

And inb4 >third versions, they all stand up on their own as being good games and each asides Crystal came out two years after their first version.

I agree, but I'm referring to linearity relative to each franchise. Pokemon has always had a degree of linearity, but imo sun and moon took it to a more guided extreme
