What was the purpose of the Pokedex 3D Pro? Why would they make 649 models with animations and not use it for anything but a free app no one cared for?

The models and animations are used in the Gen 6 and 7 games

Pretty sure the non-Gen 5 models were recycled from the past console games and were massively re-polished.
