Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh all have a wide variety of designs that nonetheless have a consisent aesthetic among all of them

Gen 2 shitters have mentally discarded the existence of Entei and Raikou. Suicune is the most popular of the three by far and got its own game.

Not so much with Yugioh. The designs, themes and aesthetics can differ wildly between cards. American-made cards are more MTG-esque. I don't think there's mean to be a consistent aesthetic beyond archetype stuff, though a lot of cards do have similar styles.

Gen 4 is pretty equal to it. Gen 2 had the most "painfully" simple designs, but Gen 4 had the most "painfully" detailed.
