Like, imagine that as you progress through the game, more and more pokemon have 'Necrozma' forms, i.e. they're being controlled by Necrozma, which give them various abilities like being able to bypass type immunities or break certain move effects or simply just boosted stats. Then at the end, you fight Necrozma himself in a big ass 3 v 1 battle, where Necrozma's stats are boosted (totem style) such that you NEED 3 pokemon at once to tank hits and do significant damage, like a proper boss fight.
Also, none of these Necrozma forms would be able to be caught and would serve no purpose to the player other than as a challenge for an engaging and interesting gameplay that will be fresh for both new and veteran players without bumping up the pokemon count.
Like, there, I just fucking improved the gameplay not just of US/UM but of the entire franchise that also pertains to potentially interesting plot developments and twists. Someone hire me.
