Tropius. Tried one in my last Sapphire run and it really didn't pull its weight

I also used a Ninjask and a Cradily, which were meh most of the time, but Swords Dance + Speed Boost and then later Baton Pass on Ninjask and Giga Drain + Toxic on Cradily made them usable

Tried a Sunny Day + Solarbeam + Chlorophyl set on Tropius but alas, it wasn't that good either way

I really liked the team anyways so I can't talk too much shit about

I tried at least 3 times to get this lil nigger to work but it's fucking impossible without It dies to a sneeze, it's level up movepool is trash, and its nearly impossible to get its hidden ability ingame, not to mention ingame it's fucking useless because AI has no IVs or EVs or whatever.

It's not even good early game. It doesn't learn a STAB move until level 15, where a pokemon like Lilipup comes barreling out of the gate with that STAB tackle. Even pokemon like Ratata had STAB hyperfang and Bidoof had Simple Defense Curl by the time Purrlion learns pursuit. Purrloin also can't take a hit worth dick either.

The only way I can see it being good is if you're doing some sort of hybrid Nuzlocke/dexnav run in ORAS and its Ice Fang variant is the only ice move you have for most of the game or something.

Mightyena.90 atk doesn't cut it,but back in gen 3 it had to use 60 spa to kill things.Only really frail underleveled pokémon died to that POS.

My main electric type wasn't in alola, so I tried to use A-Raichu by catching a Pichu. Made of glass, couldn't hit for shit, I boxed it before i even got a Thunderstone. I just used a Vikavolt i traded to evolve early instead and slapped a quick claw on it

I got a shiny so I used it. It's not bad. Pretty usable if you overlevel it. If I bred one I would give it Crunch/Poison Fang/Yawn/Shadow Ball. Since I was stuck with a shiny it had Crunch/Bite/Dig/Swagger. It was actually in a team that beat the elite 4.

It seems like a Beedrill: an early game pokemon you ditch after level 30.

Basically I avoid Pikachu's line in general, and Pikachu, the series mascot, sucked. The thunderstone just comes too far into the game, and I'd rather just pick an electric type without a stone evo. Despite that all, is A-Raichu any good at all?

Yeah, Arbok's a real mess. Even when I used it in HGSS it still didn't manage to do much cause it's level up movepool is pretty buttcheeks after you learn crunch, unti it reaches level 53 or 64 for gunk shot.

Abilities like Snow Warning and Intimidate are a pain in the ass because they make fights take longer, and Snow Warning in particular will damage the rest of your team. Instead of using gimmicks like those you're better off using Pokemon that already start out strong.

I'd say it performed the best of the electric types I've used in Alola. Golem hit hard but had speed problems, ditto with Vikavolt. Alolan Raichu hits hard enough and outspeeds almost the entire game.

I think the problem is it takes forever to get Liquidation, and its special attack is kinda ass, so unless you transfer it to get it Liquidation early, or are playing a hack where you get to that level sooner, its kinda stuck with Scald for most of the game.

Another Alola mon that I feel is the opposite of this thread is Togedemaru. Aside from the lack of any Steel type moves the little guy carried my team pretty nicely.

I didn't use xp share so ended up around 7 levels behind the story so it was a challenging run which is a bit embarassing Guzmas Ariados would destroy my team and I relied on toxic stall with drifblim who had little to no defenses.
The E-4 was the most challenging experience I ever had in pokemon

Yeah, it's pretty bullshit, desu.

By having high speed and getting Snow Warning, it is just about guaranteed to get Aurora Veil off, and Aurora Veil is utterly busted. It's supposed to solve Ice types' weaknesses and general frailty, but everyone just uses it for free setup on whatever sweeper they want.

Plus it has access to Moonblast, Encore, Nasty Plot, Ice Beam, Blizzard, etc if you want to have it carry your team. All in all, very good pokemon.

That's actually pretty cool. I'm doing a Sun run right now where I have to swap teams every time I beat a Trial. I've been consistently underleveled and had to use Pokemon and move sets I never would have considered before.

That's right. No back tracking. I haven't outright banned myself from using boxed mons I didn't touch from precious areas, but grinding becomes prohibitively labor intensive as the game goes on, so it just doesn't make sense to use that Eevee I caught back near the start of the game. But, for example, I just did my team change for Poni Island and I've got Wailord, Zygarde 10% that I got but didn't use prior, Komala, Ninetales, Klefki, and Rampardos. After the Hapu fight, and probably after Dragonium Z I'll swap teams.
