Aesthetically speaking, the Popplio line goes perfectly with Sun just like Kukui seems to be made with Decidueye in mind.
Of course this won't matter anymore in USM and doesn't mean anything, since canon doesn't exist and is just an excuse for insecure people that need a justification for their choice.

Obviously not meant to be taken seriously, but vp gets angry at everything. I do agree that talking about the "canon" starter is dumb though because it's always biased and the player characters have no set personality so there's no point to arguing over what "fits" them best.
