It was announced so early because people were crybabies on the Internet. Hell, Game Freak didn't even intend to announce this project at this time.

But since the project is in very early development, don't expect it to come out in 2018. New generations take about 2-3 years to make.

These devs get their dev kits for new consoles early as fuck, and with GF having multiple teams and us not receiving any remakes anytime soon, I'd say 2018 is absolutely feasible. Oh and you're a retard if you believed Masuda was telling the truth about waiting
