Savescumming IS against the rules, if savescumming means going back in time to avoid one of your pokemon being killed. The rule is that if one of your pokemon dies then it must be released. So you're effectively breaking the rules by loading up another save and continuing on from a previous point with your "dead" pokemon.

Well this took a couple of days. Busy, busy, busy.

Whole team has been raised to level 58. My next task will be to complete Victory Road, then beat my rival at the Pokémon League. The back to grinding until I hit 62, then the Elite 4.

So close, though. I originally didn't even want to do Platinum because of how ungodly difficult I heard it was. But, my Pearl version kept freezing on me, so I decided to just give it a try. Now here I am, almost at the end, with only 5 deaths.

This was my team on a Black 2 Randomizer. Notable team members that died were a Heatran, a very good Drapion, and a Kyurem. I also increased the levels slightly, so it was generally more difficult.

This guy is a complete retard. Got wiped (as in full team wipes) twice before Whitney. Second time he even cheated himself a gyarados and infinite money/rare candies and he still lost. On route 120 everything but Azumaril are weak to flying or bug so I've been smacking shit with Butterfree constantly

even Hoenn and Sinnoh which are the shittiest in term of fire pokemon can easily be monotype

As someone who doesn't believe in using the dupes clause I've had a good spread of mons with only one duplicate so far. Still most of them are birbs so if the final fight is rock or electric I'm thoroughly screwed. Current stars are my Pichu who has survived 5 or so times on 1 hp and has the heart of a champion, and my Magnemite who tanks everything because STEEL STRONK.

I kind of went overboard with grinding on Butterfree when I had the chance, was expecting higher levels by now but it's all hovering around 70's and almost up to 80's
Just found a grass patch in Lillycove that has level 60 Audinos in the wild but I killed the first one by mistake so now I can just catch my other pokes up there

No. Unless you wanna add your own.

You're not gonna need to grind any more than with normal runs. There's no need for you to overlevel to complete a nuzlocke run, in fact if anything it's frowned upon.

Yes you can. In fact more than a few high difficulty runs rely on this strategy. Ask yourself this tho: why are you playing nuzlocke? Is there a point to specifically look for certain pokemon when the whole point of the challenge is making do and being surprised?

Godfuckingdamnit. Buneary learns jump kick at level 23. Who fucking knew. I didn't, and my poor Aron got the OHKO.
I'm gonna need a flier and surfer soon. I'm gonna take a chance on finally training up an Altaria for the flier, but I'm not convinced about my surfer choices. Also I should probably pick up Bronzor, I kinda need a special tank and Grotle is being very disappointing at it.

Try Mega Aggron in ORAS. It's broken as fuck. Probably the only reason mine lived was because of the Mega, as I lost one in White 2's Victory Road before that.

I've managed to lose Scrafty twice myself. It's really not as bulky as it needs to be thanks to it's crap HP. Same with the Machop line, but at least I had ONE reach the Hall of Fame without dying.

So, started my way to Mr. Pokemon and to my surprise Eevee has a pretty cool, yet sometimes unreliable ability. Go to Mr. Pokemon get the Egg, make it back to New Bark but battle my rival with a Treeko (pretty cool). Name the rival Binky and get some Pokeballs (Friend Balls actually).

When I was playing around with Avalon's ability before I making my way to Mr. Pokemon,I noticed that theroute I was in had Zorua, Starly, and Ralts (Route 29). So left New Bark Twon to catch my first Pokemon and I get a Zigzagoon. What a letdown, or so I thought. Plum has become a team priority after learning Headbutt and noticing she has Pickup. She netted me a lot of berries so far. And TM Rest which I sold.

Went up to Route 46 to catch a Taillow named Cranberry. Not a Starly but could have been worse.

I went north of Cherrygrove City to catch a Sewaddle named Caesar. My squad is slowly becoming a threat, all level 10.

Tried to headbutt the trees in Cherrygrove City for an encounter, but I guess they yeild no encounters? I need to look it up online to see if it's true.

Cranberry decimated the trainers on Route 30 with Peck. He's becoming a powerhouse.

Made it to Route 31 and saw some Headbutt Trees, so decide to use it for my encounter. AND A HERACROSS COMES OUT. I've never ever used one before so I was excited, but underestimated it. Taillow brought it down to red, and I start throwing Pokeballs. I guess it has a low catch rate and killed Cranberry with a crit Aerial Ace. THEN it got a Moxie boost! Sent out Plum to try and catch it. FINALLY caught it with 2 HP left and a Pokeball to spare.

Made it to Violet City without getting my Dark Cave encounter (I'll get it once I get Pokeballs) saw the Gen 6 starters in some house, but the guy was speaking spanish (I'm guessing I have to beat the Gym).

I'm going to defeat Sprout Tower, buy balls, get the Dark Cave encounter, then challenge the Gym.

Anyways, if you have any stat boosting moves, like Defense Curl, use it against his Gastly since it can only hit you with Lick. Max out in your Stats then kill his other mons.

Or lead out with Hoothoot. Gastly can't touch you and Gengar and 2 Haunters can only hit you with Sucker Punch. Hypnosis them and Extrasensory them to death.

Before I wanted to face Faulkner, I wanted to complete Sprout Tower for money to buy Pokeballs. I encountered Gastly and named him Wister. Easily defeated the monks, bought balls, went to Dark Cave and encountered Zubat named her Countess.

Then I went to the route west of Violet City and Headbutted a tree that yeilded Exeggcute and named him Easter. Then I went south to Ruins of Alph (which just now realized Alph is short for Alphabet = Unowns) and encountered a Psyduck in a patch of grass there. Named him Crasher, and am pretty stoked because I've never used a Golduck before.

Potions stocked up, enter the gym and defeat the first trainer. When I went to go heal my Pokemon at the PokeCenter, to my horror, learned that I couldn't leave the Gym. There was a guy outside that said "Attention" or "Caution" or "Warning" something like that, but I thought that he was just saying that the Gym Leader was strong, not that I couldn't leave. Now it gets serious.

I defeat the other trainer with no problems. Now it's Faulkner (Or F30005Eoo as the text said. I don't know what that was about) and lead out with Wister. Wister Hypnosis's both his Taillow and Murkrow and disposed of them swiftly. But his Staravia was the true killer. It dodged the first Hypnosis and playing around with Potions, I had an opportunity to land another Hypnosis, but missed again and Wister unfortunately died. I sent out Plum to try and get some flinches and sadly was killed also. That really hurt me. I couldn't send in Rhino, so I had to bring out Avalon and gamble with its ability, which finally changed the attack to a Rock-type move.

Got the Gym Badge and took the Egg from the Aid in the PokeCenterand hatched it into a Togepi named Acute. Went to the Kalos house and chose Hocus, the Fennekin.

Still bummed about Wister and Plum. Now I'm going south.

Man, I'm having a hard time deciding who I want to use on my team in my Moon Nuzlocke. Just caught an Adamant Wishiwashi, which is an interesting nature for it, and am preparing for the Wishiwashi Trial.

Currently I'm sitting on Torracat, Cutiefly, Drifloon, Wishiwashi, Magnemite, and Fomantis. But, I have a Zubat, a Mudbray, a Carbink, and a Skill Link Pikipek all sitting in the box that I would love to use as well. I guess it's better to have too many options, rather than too few, but this Locke is making this difficult for me.

Ah you're right, it's on 5 Island. Although you can reach Islands 1, 2, & 3 before facing Blaine.

There are 2 Ultra Balls on Mt. Ember on 1 Island if you haven't considered that.

Update. Jupiter killed everyone except for Liza and it was only a matter of time. A trainer's Ponyta was the final nail in the coffin for my team. Platinum nuzlocke, failed.

Time to go back to the game I love the most (and the game I skipped cause it's too freaking long) Soul Silver. It's a shame, it's been a while since I lost a Nuzlocke this early.

You guys ready for a horror story?

Made a randomized Diamond to Nuzlocke, all 3 starters normal types, route 201 covered in fighting types and Munchlax is too slow to run away. Finally get a team going, but the first gym is also Fighting. Sweep it with a Venomoth and move on.

So I've got a Munchlax, Nidorina, Venomoth, Oddish, Psyduck and Vulpix. Feelin' like hot shit. Walk into the Windworks to fight Galactic Mars.

Giratina. Roar it away to deal with it later. Palkia. All my Pokémon except Munchlax get two shotted setting up poison on Palkia or switching out to scramble some heals. Palkia finally dies of poison and it's 1 on 1 with Giratina and my starter. Spam amnesia and potions between metronomes. Survive with 8 HP and paralysis. Hope I can catch something in the forest before I gotta fight Gardenia.

In X/Y, are the berry fields a distinct, separate area from route 7? I ask because I have deliberately *not* set foot in the tall grass on this route with anticipation of catching the Snorlax sleeping on the bridge, but my berry field trees were infested with bugs, and the first one I saw is a pretty tough Volbeat!

So: can I catch the bug *and* the Snorlax? Or did I just ruin my very small plan?

Transfering dead Pokemon out is nonsense. The rules for that person are that Pokemon need to be released when they die. Crossing the finish line with corpses in your party doesn't bring them back to life for you to transfer. That just cheapens the whole experience.

Two more bite the dust, courtesy of the fucking fog route to Celestic, misses galore due to me not carrying a slave.
Sappho got me through a lot of fights, dying at the h.. blade of another Scyther was harsh. And while I kinda despised Monk's lack of bulk, he still rekt half the mons in Maylene's gym.
I'm seriously considering evolving Solaire before crunch just to shore up his bulk for safety, and keeping Cloudia on exp.share reserve until she evolves too, also for safety.

Currently in Skyla's Gym in Blaze Black 2. Furthest I've gotten on a BB2 run so far and I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out. A few deaths I'm not proud of but all in all it is going pretty well.

So I started a Colourlocke today. I'm playing White, and I decided I can only use Pokemon considered Grey in the Pokedex, via Bulbapedo's list. Anything not Grey that evolves into a Grey coloured mon is fine as it is eventually Grey, but I can't evolve a Grey coloured mon into a non-Grey coloured one.

My only real unusual rules therefore are:

>first eligble encounter
>only one of each evolutionary line can be captured, meaning if I lose something, I can't get a replacement - I can retry if I fail a capture at a later route, but once captured, that's it

Fortunately, it's going well so far. I've just walked into Nacrene City, all at level 17. Next up is to get Timburr from Pinwheel Forest - can't go any further than Gurrdurr, but a Gurrdurr with an Eviolite will be a useful ally if it gets that far. I only had Lillipup until Route 3, so everything up to then was a solo run, making Cress no problem.

>Jimmy the Herdier, Bashful, Intimidate, my real starter after benching Walter the Brave Tepig
>Chuck the Pidove, Lax, Big Pecks, who took a million balls
>Kim the Drilbur, Impish, Sand Force

Eligible species are:

>Lillipup line, though Lillipup is Brown, the other two are Gray

>Timburr and Gurrdurr, but not Conkeldurr, who is Brown
>Whirlipede (both Venipede and Scolipede are red, but I could still get Venipede and evolve it)
>Zorua and Zoroark, but they're not in White
>Mincino line
>Escavalier, which necessitates Karrablast and evolving immediately
>Klink line
>Ferroseed line - I'll pray I get this in Chargestone Cave so I can get Klink in the P2 Laboratory later on
>Durant and Terrakion, who are mutually exclusive as they're both in Victory Road, and Terrakion requires me to kill Cobalion first, he's Blue and is therefore an enemy

Thanks. I've run White like 3 times already, so I'm having a more interesting ruleset this time. The hard part will be the limited captures and lack of Fire and Water resists. I thought about doing a Gray locke in Sun, but I felt it would be more interesting in White due to how few mons there are.

But no, really, gen 2 isn't terribly difficult. I can guarantee you're going to lose at least one to Whitney, she's a fucking meme. If you've played before and know what to expect she's a breeze, but blind? All I can say is Metronome and Rollout are really obnoxious on Pokemon that can take a hit.

Do I just not have the stomach for grinding like I had as a kid, or is there something about nuzlocke runs that puts the player behind the leveling curve? I mean even while losing just 3-4 team members I'm generally 5 level behind the curve on average by the 8 gym.

Godfuckingdamnit, that has got to be a fucking bug. Either a bug where the repel spawns wildly overlevelled mons, or a bug in that the hack who made Perfect Platinum somehow got a whole floor worth of wild pokemon slots on Mt. Coronet vastly overlevelled.

Repel only keeps Pokemon away that are lower level then the lead of your party. Also if you're playing a Romhack then it was probably an intentional design choice.

got wiped. Silver has surprisingly many encounters that you don't expect to be tough, but ends up killing half your team. In retrospect it might have been a bad idea to do all the nuzlockes chronological, since I'm playing around gen 1 movesets in a gen 2 game. I mean who would know that a lv 14 diglett suddenly has magnitude, when the only ground move he had in Yellow was Dig at level 19. I'm gonna try again though. There's surprisingly not lot of grinding if you pick the right types on your team.
