Why didn't she become the main character in the anime? She's better then Ash in literally every way.

This is the same anime that changed all the Libre and Rock Star cosplay Pikachu to male. It ain't gonna happen.
Just look at Generations. Not a single girl protagonist was used.

If she became the main character of the series she would get the same treatment as Ash. She doesn't have any accomplishments and its not like she's any better with that phobia. She's better off as a companion.
