I find Kommo-o to be mediocre. It's prevos are better, but it's flea you're feigning knowledge of the Sun and Moon hype season. Kommo-o was a blip that never recieved a large amount of attention. People liked it or didn't.

Jangmo-o did receive a large amount of attention and plenty of people were disappointed with the evos even before we knew their names. Hell, I was in the thread with the corocoro images where we saw them for the first time.
I'm not saying the majority hated it though: a huge amount of people liked it too, but the thing is many were disappointed and to say nobody hated Kommo-o it's ignorance at best, denial at worst.

Because it was one of the only interesting reveals at that time. Yes, people didn't like Kommo-o's design, but they didn't hate it. Not like Goodra. I'm not sure if you remember how fucking bad the Goodra backlash was. When someone starts spamming Kommo-o shitpost threads I'll agree with you.

And fyi, Sliggoo is my favorite gen6 pokemon, I know the pain of having that thing as its evolution very well myself.

His stat distributions suffers from GF trying to make him strong all around which kinda makes him a jack of all trades master of none type
He's got an insane movepool, I just wish they'd rearrange his stats a bit so he'd be a bit more solid of a threat

Basically, huge departure thematic-wise, concept-wise and design-wise from what Goomy and Sliggoo seemed to be pointing at before Goodra was revealed. In other words, Dragonite 2 but worse.
Liking Goodra itself is fine, but anybody who thinks that it's a good progression for the rest of the line is fucking insane.

Uh, the OP pic is Hydreigon, not Kommo-o.
Hydreigon's stat distribution has it solely placed as a special attacker.

The problem with Hydreigon is that Haxorus was introduced the same gen and is cooler even if its base stats are lower.

Why is it so unbelievable to even consider that some people hated Kommo-o when it was revealed?
It's not a big deal. Lots of people were expecting something different for the pseude line and hated the poor thing.
For two weeks straight there were plenty of threads talking about how "overdesigned" the final evo is, but clearly you weren't there to see them.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though its clearly skewed towards being a special attacker, its stats aren't as committed to that as they should be if its really supposed to be in that role rather than be versatile. 600 BST is a lot to work with and even a few slight changes in distribution could pretty dramatically increase Hydreigon's effectiveness in that role
Take 20 points out of the Attack stat it's unlikely to be using very much (which still puts it at a workable 85 if you want to run a physical move for some reason) and slap 10 each into Special Attack and Speed and you have a distribution that looks more like a special version of Garchomp or Salamence.

Its a step-up from Dragonite design-wise(and stat-wise until D-Nite got Multiscale) unless people refuse to let go of their nostalgia goggles or if quadruped reptiles aren't their thing. I really like it's traditional european dragon ascetic and the concept of it's evo line.

Its mega is retarded visually and competitively I'll give ya that.
