Even today, we've still got Christians demanding the "right" to treat gays like shit "because our religion says we have to." Remember, we're only a couple of decades removed from routine (instead of the currently occasional) violence against homosexuals in the West.
Look, I don't want to live under Sharia law. I'm not saying it's better. It's not. But Christians just really aren't much different, and they've been a lot more successful at forcing the rest of us to live under their laws. And whenever the rest of us protest or manage to make some headway against Christians' attempts at establishing a theocracy, Christians get all bitchy and whine about how evil secularists are persecuting them.
