This completely disregards that he goes wild when an actual animal isn't nearly as cut and dry. Shaymin is it very clearly based on a hedgehog, where as a Magnemite is not clearly based on any real animal and Trevanent in premise is difficult to do as just a basic animal, so he thinks of ways to make them into real animals while keeping elements in tact.
The shrimp doesn't take this into account and exists solely to mock him in a way that doesn't even apply
