The animation has improved, but it's different than past seasons and may not be entirely enjoyable.
There are humorous moments sure, but it's nothing to write home about.
Pokemon battles are few and far between, the plot and pacing are as slow as the Alolan Pokedex, and character development comes in bursts for characters since there are so many "main characters".
Lillie has autism, is scared of touching Pokemon, and is otherwise a non-factor.
Ash's team sucks, he does no training, and he is portrayed as a more goofy retard than any competent Ash in the past. He's not BW tier dopey, but he's definitely a dipshit. The trials are a joke and he isn't even doing all of them, there's little actual development of his team despite them all having personalities (which is par for when they're all in first stages), and I would hardly even call his team competent at this stage outside of Pikachu.
I'm not sure what SoL is supposed to entail, but this sure as hell doesn't feel like past seasons of Pokemon by a long shot.
