I lost my Voltorb to a Koffing Self-Destruct from a trainer a while back. Sooner MIGHT be able to one-shot them with Psychic, but that's not certain.

It's one of the Nuzlockes from the last thread, it's an Heirlocke. I can only own 6 Pokemon at a time. When one dies, I go back to a route where I didn't catch something, and then it takes that spot. So if Mimsy I dies, I go to Petalburg Forest and catch Mimsy II. Let's say I don't have a death until T &L, I could get my catch anywhere between Shoal and Petalburg.

Alright taking the suggestion from the previous thread I'm still doing Platinum but I started over with a randomizer on similar strength settings. Here's what I changed off the top of my head:

Starters randomized but basic with 2 evos
Trainers randomized but similar strength and type themed
Wild Pokemon randomized but similar strength and I think area substitutions
TMs randomized with compatibility based on type
Base stats randomized but following evolutions, just to make it interesting
Types and abilities stay the same
Upped trainer Pokemon level by 10% because why not.

With the addition of Pikachuuni and her Meteor Mash I now have a nigh unstoppable duo for teams. Unless they're up against rock type.

Defeated Totem Mimikyu because Magz woke up FIRST TURN of his sleep. Not even thanks to refresh shit. Just luck. Started of with Thunder Shock to knock it's disguise down. Then used Flash cannon, chipped away about 55/60% of it's health. Haunter used Sucker Punch and Mimikyu used Shadow claw, but thanks to eviolite it only took 40% of Magz. Then the sleep stuff happened. Destroyed Haunter with Garbo.

Good to hear! I just confused a Ponyta (which sweeps my whole team) with Confusion and it hit itself. Ponyta's probably one of the most broken basic pokemon to exist.

if you go to the power plant, magnemite is always a very solid addition
don't go for the voltorbs, sure electrode is fast as fuck but it's not particularly strong and has a non existent movepool

Got a Magneton. The Magnemite line is one of my favorites in Kanto, beaten out only slightly by the Slowpoke line; so I'm glad I got it instead of something shitty like Pikachu.

Magnezone/Tangrowth is a pretty common pair on my team in Gen 4, so this is a pretty familiar setup for me. Haven't actually played Gen 1 in years, and this team is pretty different from my usual lineup of Venusaur, Nidoking, Slowbro, Haunter, Tauros, and Fearow.

Finally getting back to my randomized Diamond Nuzlocke after a shitty week of back to back to back shifts at work. With only a Munchlax left I scraped together a team with a Roselia, Cranidos, HM slave Tailow and a Togekiss that carries the team.

Only got two Pokémon in the box right now, and Cranidos got one shotted by a wild Latias that broke every ball I had. Had to replace him with a wild Froslass and found a Rapidash with Storm Drain for some godawful reason. Two badges and I've already lost 6 Pokémon and it just keeps getting worse. That's what I get for not playing vanilla.

Managed to beat Roark who got Randomized into a Normal type Gym leader with Ditto, Castform, and Buneary. Castform having Ember and Powder Snow caught me off guard, and the Buneary had Frustration whih was terrifying, but through the power of teamwork and Schmrtz hiding behind 6 Defense Curls I was able to make it through with no casualties.

Update on the White Nuzlocke
Caught Rosemary the Petilil, who swept most of Pinwheel Forest with Sleep Powder into leech seed into Mega Drain
Also caught Bo the Darumaka, haven't used him at all yet.

With Moon finally beaten, I have started my first Heirlocke. Pleasantly surprised at the lack of Duplicates, given that I am playing without Dupes Clause. Also, even though I forgot to mention it in the layout, I am playing on "SET," just because after all of these Lockes I've done, playing on "SWITCH" feels like cheating now.

A couple of Heirlocke rules I thought of since starting. First off, HM Slaves. I think it should go without saying that, especially since you can't have any backups, one should be allowed to catch HM Slaves as needed.

Second, what if, for example, Yellow I dies in the battle against Brock, before I've finished establishing all 6 of my lineages. In this case, I would think that the next Pokémon caught should be named Yellow II, rather than White I. Catch the Heirs first, then the new family names.

The Dusk Stone is immediately into Poni Island and the Eviolite really helps, but considering you already have a Ghost type, you may as well bench him. They literally won't let you progress unless you have more than one pokemon. You could play fairly and forfeit the run or you could maybe catch a low-level pokemon and kill it immediately with your actual pokemon when you send it into battle before actually fighting the twins.

You can release the low-level pokemon immediately afterwards.

First Marowak went down to a Shadow Ball from a Haunter. Afterwards Oricorio died thanks to a Shadow Sneak from Ariados.

With that Misder is back on the team and Coala is added. Her nature is pretty good, giving her 112 def.

Totems can be difficult if you don't have the right tools. The biggest offenders are Lurantis and Mimikyu.

Lurantis' can be countered by Golbat, which if you're following dupes clause it's impossible not to catch a Zubat, while Mimikyu gets countered by having a Gyrados which is also almost impossible not to have.

You need a water type. You don't really have anything that can take water type hits right now.

Gyrados, Slowbro or Pelliper if that Wingull is a variant that will have Drizzle are your best bets.

Currently outside the Elite Four in Emerald. I think I've fought every trainer I can. Worried about getting blasted out but I really, really don't want to keep grinding Victory Road, I've had some dangerous crits.

Torkoal and Gardevoir have Curse and Calm Mind, which should let me set up safely given that I have ways so many ways to cause paralysis. My main boy Milotic has Ice Beam and can handle Drake. If I can just make it through Glacia with most of my team together, I think I can win this.

Best of luck. IIRC Victory Road isn't too bad aside from possible exploding Gravelers. It's annoying how many things have Roar/Whirlwind too.

Also, I KNOW something's going to pop out a random Aerial Ace and demolish it. I don't like Breloom in Gen III because I always end up getting rid of offensive Grass moves. It's solid, though.

Fuck Hiker Calhoun on Wela Volcano. I thought my tough little Diglett could one-hit his Machop with Bulldoze. I was wrong. He one-hit my full-health Lv.24 Diglett with one Low Kick. It's funny, when I first got him I thought he'd be a shitter, but he's kicked some ass since thay first Trial site I caught him. He was so damn close to being a Dugtrio, too. R.I.P. Mason.

In other news, got another fucking hindering nature capture. Lightning Rod Cubone (good), but Bold. And a Jolly Wishiwashi on Route 7 (was trying to get Staryu in the bubbling spot). Dunno who I'll replace Mason with. Probably Mudbray (damn Own Tempo).

I had to switch Lekki in on Lucario in order to heal Luxor. Lekki resisted the Metal Claw, but died to its Drain Punch. Rest in piece buddy.

Still scary since Lucario was at +2 Atk. Once Luxor was healed, switched into Drewberry to get an Intimidate drop, then switched into Luxor to eat up Metal Claws. It was a close match since Lucario kept getting boosts and Gust was my best option.

Luckily we pulled through. Don't know who to put onto my team now

Trade evolutions are fair - it's not really cheating though it'd be really cool if two people did a co-op nuzlocke and actually traded each other a trade-evo pokemon. Though with the EXP boost and how good most trade-evo pokemon are some people might think that's unfair.

Update: Beat Ghost Gardenia! Giving Cala the Cubone an MVP award because damn, she's great. She did the entire Galactic building without hitting red.

In other news, Eevee apparently replaced Gastly in the randomizer, because the Old Chateau is filled with them. I have Ivan the Eevee in the box now and I really want him on the team, but I don't know who to replace. Thoughts?

Nice to see someone followed my idea. Slap the Soothe Bell you just got and run around and battle a bit. It didn't take long for my Togepi to evolve. It should be close anyways. If you check the Friendship Poketch, it should evovle when Budew has 2 small hearts

I have a male Kirlia that has an abysmal Atk stat and a superb Sp.Atk stat. Is there a way to raise the Atk stat in Platinum or am I doomed?

While I normally pile on a million extra rules, when it comes to BB2/VW2 challenge mode, the fewer additional restrictions, the better.
I wish the start of B2/W2 wasn't so filled with cutscene type shit, because you'll typically be restarting the first two gyms a lot.

Just beat Fantina and her fire gym; Cala the Cubone evolved into a Marowak off of the trainers before we fought her. Fantina's entire team was pure fire (Torchic, Magby, Rapidash), so Cala had no problem one shotting everything. This is why she's MVP.

That's my problem, but the best surprise about Cradily has been Suction Cups. Nothing in the area can take him out or end the battle; I never thought it would pay off in usefulness, but its actually been a huge help for leveling. He just EQ's the Lairons and eats them for breakfast. Thanks for the props, I'm going to be at SGDQ tonight grinding in the crowd.

When you're randomizing, I'd recommend doing global 1 to 1; meaning, for example, in every place a Shinx pops up, Riolu will replace it. When I'm not using it, the game feels overly ridiculous.

Also similar strength and banning legendaries from spawning like a sentret would.

I think that's what excites me the most about type random. Fun type combo's on old ass shitmons to make them potentially greatmons.

A lot of my favorites are low power pokemon that sometimes perform sub-optimally even in ingame runs.

After grinding my mons to lvl 15+ to beat the first gym in Violet City.

Not sure if I want to continue this or not. Not that I think my Heirlocke is necessarily a bad idea, but doing it on Blue might have been. I can just too easily see myself sweeping through this without any deaths, even with this team, with how easy the first generation is.

I might postpone this for now, maybe indefinitely. Get back to an Heirlocke after I've at least finished a Nuzlocke in every region. Still haven't completed one in Johto or Kalos.

Might be time to retry my Y Nuzlocke.

I always ditch my starter on non-randomized runs. Starters can to easily sweep entire games.

Hell, most of the time I box my starter through normal playthroughs anyways.

So right after Luxio died in Maylene's Gym, Prinplup and Staravia died on the very next route.

It sucks because these three were with me before I even made it to Jubilife. I had them since they were babies cryinganimegirl.jpeg

Anyhow, Made it to Pastoria. I debating whether I want to switch out Gyarados for the Shellos I just picked up on Route 213. Thing is I've never used a Gyarados before. So it may stay on the team.

Floaroma encounter was a male Combee. Sigh.

Anyhow, I have work tomorrow so I'll continue when I get home.

I can see why, had a random furret throw a Giga Impact at my Rotom earlier, barely escaping doom. I just cleared out Hala and am moving onto the next island, got a full team and something like 4 other pokemon. In Ten Carot Hill I got a Larvitar, not sure who to replace for it though or if I should.

Well, say what I want about that Farfetch'd, it tore through the first gym like it was nothing. Heading into Lumiose now, and I decided beforehand that my Kanto starter would be based on the second-to-last digit of my trainer ID, just like how my Kalos starter was based on my last. My ID is 61434, therefor I started with Fennekin, and will be grabbing Bulbasaur.
