Gatr is a good dragon dance/ swords dance mon.
At least Typhlosion has a gimmick.
Meganium is objectively the worst competitively viable starter....but it is also objectively the cutest.

A short hug would be fine. The body can survive brief periods of heart-stopping. Spoink can probably survive even longer than most species, given its cardiovascular mechanism.

Besides, all it has to do is last long enough to evolve. Grumpig has that problem solved.
