I wish they didn't make the game so fucking grindy. Max level should've been 30, the 30-40 grind is a joke. Stardust should be removed and an xp system linked with gyms/battles won introduced. Mon rarity should've been geographically varied (within sensible limits, (e.g. State/county regionals?) to encourage travelling and trading should've been in game from start. Fuck hanke, once my dex is done I'm out.

I'm 28and halfway to 29 after playing since launch with large gaps (~oct-Dec, Feb-Jun). Be a relief to finally hit 30 in a week or so. My city is also fairly active for raids and I work in the centre so I'm getting plenty of rare candy via lunchtime raids which will speed up finishing my dex (28 last week alone with 5 tms). Fair play to anyone who's stuck this game since launch only new features and living in active area pull me back in.

I've gotten 25 coins today so far, if the instinct faggots could kick my mon out of the gym I'll be all set for today but I'm not holding my breath.

I'll probably have to go retake the gym I lost ealier and hope for the best, in our town for some reason all the gyms are getting stagnant except for that one.

I could be wrong about this, but it hit me that I could use a duo raid (either a 4 or a difficult 3) as a way to test theoretical concepts in the real world. All the stats and spreadsheets are great, and they are immensely helpful when it comes to choosing a starting lineup. But as soon as human reflexes are introduced, for those of us who are above far below perfect at battles, things get fuzzy. I was at a level 4 Blastoise raid yesterday with my gf's son. Nobody else showed up. We almost tried it by ourselves, just to see what sort of damage our various Pokemon could actually do. I assume there'd be roughly 12 raids in an hour, so there'd be 36 minutes to test ideas. The only down side would be spending coins or using (I wouldn't call it "wasting") the daily passes, and using a bunch of revives and potions. And when I find myself at another raid along with other trainers, I'll know which of my Pokemon work best for me. Thoughts?

When I play Go I only look at my screen when I'm trying to catch something, and usually I actually slow down or stop, and even when I am looking at my screen I don't keep my face pointed at the sidewalk like a retard. Just, fucking, keep your phone in your hand while you're walking and hide your powerlevel at least somewhat.

You could argue that the max revives are limited since they're kinda rare, but it's not as if you're ever short of regular revives and super potions.

Did a Tyranitar raid today. Only got 7 balls but managed to catch it. Here's my current approach:

>Touch the screen to make the ball hover
>Wait until the mon attacks so that the circle is paused
>If the circle was of a good size before the attack, spin the ball and throw it right before the circle becomes visible again

Noticed last time that the reason several of my balls didn't even hit it was because the "spin" disappears if you just keep spinning the ball nonstop, making it just fall outside the screen. The occasional jump and attack also ruins a perfectly good throw, and since there's no chance of it running away on its own, every ball that connects means a chance to catch it, so make each throw count.

Continuously landed great and excellent throws with this approach, the rest is left to the RNG to decide if they are successful enough, but one can at the very least leave the raid feeling that your throws wasn't what failed you.

You have to be a special kind of shitter if you keep losing the ball like that. That only happens when you keep clipping the edge of the screen while holding the spin motion.

It fled. But the bug you described or similar like that happened with a Lapras before though...I wrote Niantic about it but so far I only receive copy/paste replies making it clear they're not even reading the specific bug reports they're receiving (it doesn't surprise me).

Anyway I was succesful this time around with only 6 balls to try! Received a fast tm too. Also caught a Grimer on my way home so I'm pretty pleased.

When the original RBY games came out, Pokémon's selling point/gimmick was that you could battle people one-on-one, raise the monsters you caught by battling people one-on-one, and trade monsters with other people.

When Pokémon Go was announced, the trailer demonstrated people catching Pokémon, battling teams of other players, and engaging in what appears to have been a raid against Mewtwo. There was no reason to suspect that one-on-one battles, training, and trading wouldn't be featured from day 1.

What we got is a game where you can only battle A.I. Pokémon someone left behind to guard a gym, "training" is accomplished by collecting dust and candies specific to a species (meaning the focus is on catching duplicates of already-strong Pokémon rather than raising your own), and trading initially did not exist. You also can't take on a live 3-vs-3 team like the trailer showed, so even if you were looking forward to things outside of "muh Gen I nostalgia" that were advertised, it still feels like we're being gypped in favor of features which can be implemented in ways that extort money.

tl;dr: Trading is one of several features that should have been available from the get-go. It would be foolish to expect the game to function "like Gen I but in real-life," but several specific features like that were advertised and abandoned while money-making items like Pokéballs, lures, and fucking raid passes are necessary to play the game.

I've only managed to catch 2 of 7 raid Tyranitars, and one was for my girlfriend who can't catch mons to save her life. I got a really beefy Tyranitar from the rock event a month or so ago, though, so I don't really care all that much.

I understand why people would want trading (I desperately want regionmons), but I don't see how it could be implemented without substantially gutting the incentive to go out and catch mons or without being extremely restricted (like maybe it costs a substantial amount of candy to trade a mon, or you can only trade region specifics or unevolved mons or something).

I'm not making excuses, and I'm just as irritated as you (in particular, I think it's a sin that Pokémon battles and catching Pokémon are about as basic as possible -- the way battles currently work, I honestly wouldn't even care if they rolled out more direct PvP). Trade Tickets you can very rarely get at PokeStops. One is guaranteed at the 7 day streak and when you reach a certain level. Players also have to be near each other in order to trade.

I'm thinking from Niantic's perspective here -- if Pokémon are suddenly substantially easier to obtain (and obtain reliably, not through chance encounters or random eggs), folks aren't exactly going to need things like incubators. Don't read this as Niantic apologia, I'm just trying to think about what we should reasonably expect from a company that, for instance, will sell you a pack of incubators and raid passes at an increased price and call it a sale.

Could you realistically sue Niantic for making the new gym system? Some of us spent hundreds of dollars trying to get as many 3000 CP Pokemon as possible, and now they completely flip and make them worthless. It's basically stealing and/or fraud.
