That's not exactly feasible for the first fighting game in its series

Models, animations, and movesets all have to be made completely from scratch, it takes years for a fighting game series to build up a large roster

The problem is that they don't want to re-use moves too much, they want each fighter to be unique, which is why the likes of Hawlucha, Greninja, Incineroar and a few others didn't make it and never will, because they resemble other existing fighter.

While I would refer another Mystery Dungeon or Rangers myself, last probably won't happen because the Switch lacks touchscreen in the dock RIP, but I doubt Pokken will fail it didn't do too bad even when it was stuck to the incredible failure that was the Wii U and the Switch should at least do better.

There's some small rhythm game that can't be played docked because it uses the touchscreen, so a Ranger game isn't totally out of the question.

19 out of 800 Pokemon (and two repeats) is just unacceptable for really any game.

I don't even care if they cloned fighting styles and just slapped on a different model (Wrestler Pikachu cloned into Hawlucha, Croagunk into Greninja, etc) there needs to be more than 2.3% of the franchise available.

That's a waste of time and pretty unreasonable for a fighting game designed like Pokkén is. If it had been a shitty MvC clone or shallow Netherealm fighter then sure it should have a gigantic roster. The issue was people who play Pokemon generally don't play fighters and have zero knowledge of the genre. They got a fairly deep 3d fighter with an admittedly small launch roster when they wanted a shallow beat em up where they could play all their favorites.

How the fuck would these even work

Hawlucha doesn't have electric powers (which make up a huge chunks of Libre's moveset) and Croagunk isn't a ninja

In Smash, the clone character's movesets still make sense thematically (minus Falcondorf), but you'd be hardpressed to find two Pokemon whose fighting styles are completely identical.

When pokken dx nobody gave a fuck. They combined the pokken dx and USM trailers together.

Like Facebook, twitter, YouTube chat during Nintendo tournaments. It's not even in top 200 in either usa and Japan amazon

Given how barebones the original arcade port was (seriously, they were too cheap to hire a half competent voice actor to do Mia's lines) I wouldnt be surprised if Pokken already made them a shitton of money, especially if we add the special arcade gamepad sales into equation. Pokken Switch could probably only sell like 50 000 and still turn out to be profitable.

They are only irrelevant if you stopped consuming Pokemon media in gen 1. The only arguably weird choice here is Braixen. The rest are very popular, especially Weavile and Gardevoir. Chandelure even won a poll for favorite 5th gen mon.

Greninja wasn't included partially because they wanted to avoid having too much overlap with Smash (Pikachu, Lucario, Charizard, and Mewtwo are pretty much mandatory for anything Pokemon-related though so of course they made it) and partially because Sceptile already has the ninja motif

Chandelure's not that hard to implement, really

Also, I don't give a fuck about connectivity. I just want to be able to play as long as I desire without the emotional extortion of wait times.

If there isn't a package to just buy a game outright to remove any waiting entirely, it shouldn't exist.

It's a great fighting game with interesting characters. I can understand why people want more as the roster is small but there's no reason to say it's a bad game because of it.
For this thing to keep living, they're going to need dlc. Best if it's not paid dlc but that will never happen.

I'm still going to try Scizor and I'll still play the shit out of Pikachu because he's cool in this game, but fuck it's the second iteration (technically), the roster has N O N E of my favourites and that must be the case for a lot of Pokemon fans who don't particularly like the usual mascots
