>>33037311The objectmons back then had some sense built into them.
Magnemite is an objectmon, but it's clearly more than just a magnet. it's two magnets connected to a sphere ball and three screws, making a more unique shape, and its seeminly lifeless eye makes it look alien. You couldn't say its literally my mom's magnet. And since its a magnet I can believe that it floats.
Voltorb is an objectmon but isn't based on any real life object.
Geodude is an objectmon but takes the idea of it being a rock to give it a rocky, lumpy face. it's disproportionately big arms are pretty distinctive, too.
Diglett is an objectmon, and you probably forgot it was even an object.
Nobody hates Chandelure.
An objectmon like Vanillite is disliked because its too familiar, even if its really an icicle, it looks like ice cream, which is something we see on a regular basis, and doesn't have anything distinct about it to develop it past being ice cream like Diglett, Chandelure, or Geodude. I had to LOOK UP if it had arms, and it has little stub arms and it . It's face is just like pasted on there. it could by any pokemon or confectionary mascot's face.
