One thing's for sure. The fanbase feels a lot more stale and frustrated then it was even just a year ago.

SM had a lot of hype but also it held a lot of hopes for GF finally getting their shit right. Not only they messed up again but also created a game thats not enjoyable to replay.

Shady Penguin being fed up with Pokemon, Nateaddookie cant even finish their SM nuzlocke. Even MunchingOrange is straying away from Pokemon these days. Many more do the same

All that's happening is the usual audience turnover that happens every two generations.

Old fans start leaving and new ones come in and replace them.

This happened with Gen 3, it happened with Gen 5, and now it's happening again with Gen 7. And it'll happen again in Gen 9.

Every odd-numbered generation sees the departure of old fans and the entrance of new ones.

It's easy regardless. The exp share just exacerbates how easy the game is. And yes, most of the trainers in the game have garbage movesets. Why people try to pretend it's difficult I have no clue.

I'm not implying pokemon games are hard, I'm implying SM aren't the hardest among the main games.

Trials are mostly easy garbage, even easier than gyms. Almost all of them give you an incredibly easy out right before the fight or have stupid AI. I would also argue that Kukui is easier than Cynthia, Ghetsis, and Wallace if you want to include him. Possibly Steven if you don't use Swampert/Whiscash.
