Some go so far as to not include any of the same monsters, such as Applimon, or to use completely different mechanics than any other thing in the series, like Xros.
What evolves into what is about the only thing that IS consistent.
>>33077380Also, yeah, digimon has recolors that are less excusable even than Yokai Watch, because Yokai Watch has recolors because every monster has the exact same 4 moves and ability, they don't change except stat growth, so if you want something that is otherwise the same monster, but with a different ability, or a heal instead of a debuff, or whatever, you have to make a whole new monster, but you want it to look similar so people get "oh, it's the same thing but with 1 different move" Kind of like Alola Mon.
Digimon's recolors have no rhyme or reason to them, and aren't even necessarily related, in stat makeup or family.
