It wasn't on the release day. I was like, 4 in 2002, not allowed to play video games, and stole my older sister's GameBoy and hid in drawers and wardrobes and stuff.

You think it's shitty because when you look at it, you can't help it but compare it to current gen games, the truth is, when it came out, there was nothing like it, it was truly an awesome experience and I almost feel sorry for you.

there kinda was but not in the west. first Megami Tensei game came out in 1987, after that there was Pokemon in 1998 and shortly after that Dragon Quest Monsters came out in 1999 as well.

but it was unique regardless. the game was just the cutest shit ever and very popular in the west.
