Using the games as escapist fantasies to hide from my miseries in life aside, I also enjoy playing Pokémon for the strategy in it, mostly in the competitive side of things. I love to build my own team, compare it to other people's teams, transfer older teams to newer games, trade, train, etc. I also love how the games offer things not many other JRPGs offer, such as the vast amount of postgame content, replay value, and more.
