>>33097977The design is shit, yes, but I think that it's important to talk about what it was based on. There is no real official statement, but to me it's quite obvious GF wanted to make them look like second or third gen fighters or large commercial jets. The closest match would be Northrop F-89 Scorpion. The little spikes on their cheeks could be air intakes, and their feet could be landing gear/hooks for STOL. Considering they are aquatic, as seen in the fifth movie, they could also be a rudder, and make them look like a twinjet hydroplane. If you look at their tail, it looks like the nozzle of a turbojet. That way they would be more like trijet. Their design is just kinda confusing, even to an avgeek.
