Did a few raids this morning and have some tms to burn through.

Is it better to try and get fighting moves on my polibro? I currently have bubble / hp, is rock smash/ dp better? Should I also try and get dp instead of cc on machamp? I'm also thinking of using a fast tm for confusion on slowbro

I could also try and roll for blizzard on my articuno, future sight on espeon, tbolt on jolteon, fire blast on flareon. I only have 1 charge tm, what do.

I guess Niantic never accounted for second-stage Pokémon when running double EXP, because this is actually the first double-candy event we've had in forever and back then second-stage also gave 3 candies instead of 5.

So /pgg/ my small town managed to fire off an articuno raid, we beat it and then only 3 out of 9 caught it.

We all agreed we need to set something up for raids to organise better, all the social media accounts for our local PoGo group died in september of last year and everyone sorta limped along not really interacting with anyone outside of their circles.

Just got back from wandering around the city doing some raids:

Go for things that aren't weak to ice, and at least have high DPS even without being super effective.
Water/Ice types happen to 4x resist ice so they can survive a lot longer, and Lapras does neutral damage making it a survivor.
You can't go wrong with Tyranitar with Bite/Stone Edge or maybe Iron Tail/Stone Edge.
Fire types are very useful.

Always keep a blissey or snorlax on your 6th slot so you don't faint all your pokemon, have to rejoin and lose your damage bonus.

Do legendary Pokemon have any IV minimums, like other raid Pokemon seem to? I don't think I've ever gotten a raid Pokemon with less than the top-level appraisal, but the Lugia I caught is a level below that, apparently at 11/11/10.

Not that I'm too concerned about it, as I'm pretty lucky just to have managed to get a Lugia (on the first ball!). I'm just trying to figure out if these are good stats for a completely random IV spread, or relatively low stats for a Pokemon guaranteed to be somewhere in the upper ranges.

I only managed to get mine because I was lucky enough to run into a big group doing raids. Usually everything around me is super dead and I can't even get a single person for a ttar. Yeah, I had a weird glitchy Articuno battle also. Midway through the battle I backed out to heal, then rejoined. But when I rejoined, all of my Pokemon just immediately did the fainting animation one after the other and I kept getting the "all of your Pokemon have fainted screen," despite them all being at full health (and staying at full health after the fainting screen).

So I just kept exiting, reentering, and fainting over and over hoping it would at least give me a shot at catching Articuno when everyone else finished the battle, but when the battle ended it just froze. So I just closed out of the game and restarted, thinking I was just out of luck, but then when it reloaded it put me right into the capture battle.

And of course I didn't catch it. But at least I got the EXP/items/etc. despite the fainting weirdness.

Nanabs are crutch-berries for the impatient.
Just rev up that curve ball, waiting for it attack, and throw the ball just as the attack recovery animation plays out.
It cannot attack/dodge during that recovery animation.

When it attacks, there's two parts of the animation.
The initial part where the capture ring disappears, and the transition to idle animation where the capture ring is back.
This is generally the safest time to make a throw, during the wind-down it's very unlikely to start dodging or attacking.
You throw before the ring would re-appear mind you, it is a tight window and takes pratice.

Yes, research data suggests that capture chances are improved by nice/great/excellent throws, curve balls, and a mixture of the two.
And your bronze/silver/gold badges and golden/razz berries work on top of that too.

For something with as absurdly low capture chances as legendaries, it matters a lot.

Unless it's Lugia, where the transition dispositions the capture ring and you can end up missing anyway. It can even attack again before it's even perfectly back in place.

I did four raids in Manhattan today (and one in Brooklyn). Couldn't believe the crowds. Raids filled up in seconds. It was nice only having to worry about the capturing part and not so much about the battling part, with that many people around. I can't imagine how frustrating it'd be if you weren't even certain you'd have a chance at capturing it.

Say you're re-rolling Alakazam with Focus Blast.
Possible charge moves are Future Sight, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast.
It cannot learn the legacy moves Dazzling Gleam or Psychic.

If you kept re-rolling, you might get Focus Blast -> Shadow Ball -> Focus Blast -> Shadow Ball -> Focus Blast -> Future Sight.

I evolved a 14/14/13 Alakazam with Psycho Cut and Future Sight today so I'm pretty happy about that. I caught it as a Kadabra too I think.

There are both Articuno and Lugia raids at the place I'm spending part of the holiday now. However it's a tiny ass village, so you can bet there aren't enough people to fight it. Neither do I really have the time to do raids now anyway. Just 5 more days to go and I can finally hunt for the silver and blue birds...

Yeah, a raid by Borough Hall today had like five people. Then I went to one in Lower Manhattan that had at least 50.

Oh boy I can't wait to never get the chance again when the spawns are nerfed to hell and no one cares anymore. Let us solo Lvl 3-4-5 raids by removing time limit so we have to suffer and use a ton of items if we wanna do it. Forcing co-op play isn't feasible unless you're having events every second.
