Almost 5 years ago, a bunch of anons on /vp/ set out to create something special.
What started out as an effort to create a brand new Pokédex soon evolved into a game dev project the likes of which had never been seen before.
Scores of anonymous posters, all working together on equal footing to cobble together a swan song to the games that had shaped their lives so heavily.
As the months turned into years, new faces arrived and old faces faded away.
A bunch of amateurs, most of which with absolutely no experience, slowly started to assemble a monument to their love for a game about collecting monsters.
Today, we have finally reached a great milestone: the completion of our Demo 2.0. The countless combined efforts of everyone, from simple survey voting anons to masterful artists, has let us accomplish this release.
http://capx.wikia.com/wiki/Demo This is the link to the Demo page. On it, you'll find a link to the download, along with the feedback and bug report surveys.
Playtime is 8-10 hours.
Yes, this is for real.
If you ever want to help make the rest, post your Discord.
Thanks for waiting for us, /vp/.

Hey /vp/!
so I've been working on sage music for four and a half years now and it's been fun. I do other cool shit on the side, like put my own twist on the tunes we create. Sage Restrung is a project I started in 2015 to do exactly that, to facelift the entire game's soundtrack past the BW2 soundfont. I've gotten to a fair bit of what we've covered in this demo, and will commit to finish all of the music found in the full build once we get to it.
hopefully the game itself will be finished :^) here's the mediafire link to the cool stuff I've tweaked;

>>33114092 >smaller amount of time by one person Have you considered the possibility that one person making the games is the reason why they can be made in a smaller time frame? If there's one person, there's no polls for approval. There's no back-and-forth about what to do next, what to focus on, etc. Hell, there's no meetings or anything either. And if you're looking to get feedback from people who actively care to finish the project, that means you have to give them time to get it in. People (most people) have lives outside of Sage, lives that either reward them monetarily (civilized culture refers to this as a "job", but shitposters on /vp/ like you would have no frame of reference) or are socially more rewarding (they get to enjoy themselves in company that isn't a bunch of idiots who contribute nothing telling them they take too long). And then those same people with lives have to implement any changes into the game.
I know this is a radical concept for many, but doing things take time, and when you don't have all day to dedicate to any activity you want, some things don't get done. Sage is really not a single dev's "priority". All of us deeply care for the project and want to see it get done, but at the end of the day, the reality is we can't always afford to be working on it, be it monetarily afford it or emotionally. When we say sage is made in our free time, we mean it. I mean, I keep saying "we" like I've contributed a single thing of value, but you get my point.
Also it's worth noting that Dust isn't in the same situation as us. That dude got $75k to make that game from Microsoft.

Let Chelonite learn Rock Tomb

Seems like UI hater guy just doesn't really understand the goals or vision for Sage and hasn't paid any attention to its development or legacy. The point of the game isn't to make gimmicky eyecatches like weird custom UIs that look alien to anyone familiar with Pokémon, or to try to deviate from the Pokémon game formula in any proprietary or feature dense way. The goal is to take the good things everyone loves about the games and try to reach as close to perfection as a group of hobbists possibly can. Sage doesn't have new battle formats, weird emulator specific UI layouts, new gym progression or flashy graphic artwork. What it does have is an amazing Pokédex in both concept and balance, well written characters, a strong and engaging story, a finely tuned challenge and a meaningful adventure. It doesn't need a ultra intuitive light show neon UI with five new menus and a cool layout. It needs heart, and that's what it has.
