Japanese tends to follow certain rules about altering their words when being converted from hiragana, katakana, kanji into romanji or English spelling of words.
I can't remember them all, I just remember phonically that they drop the "u" often, and with certain English derived words, they try to alter it to the closest possible English alliteration.
