Guess I'm the only one who found the XY anime really boring. The animated action is good but that's all it really had going for it, and that doesn't necessarily make it good overall.
Animation isn't everything.

At one point, all episodes not gym-related had the same stupid routine: Stumble upon someone who has a problem, volunteer to help, team rocket gets in the way, but get their asses kicked, solve problem, return to traveling.

At one point, I dropped it, came back to watch a league, saw Ash lose as usual, then dropped it again.

Then I went years forgetting it even existed. When I heard it seemed Ash was truly, truly about to win a league for fucking real this time (he had all this momentum, a special mega pokemon no one has seen in thousands of years who beat Diantha's Mega Gardevoir, a powerful team) I came back.

Never again.

Yeah, it is. You could replace the main cast with cardboard cutouts and nothing would have changed.

At least in the OG series the interactions between the characters was funny. You're never going to get bantz like https://youtu.be/1g7p8thjjeM?t=30

in the modern series because it's so fucking sanitized and everyone has to be 100% nice to each other all the time.

Also I hate that damn near every character seems to want to suck Ash's dick for no reason.

No, you're not. It had a really strong start so I forced myself to keep watching for a payoff that never came. It mishandled just about every aspect it introduced. The league was just the final and biggest slap in the face.
