I like FRLG but only did the battle tower a couple of times. Other than the prizes I thought it was pretty uneventful.
To many people the islands are the best thing about FRLG. To me the islands are an integral and unique part of FRLG. In my opinion if you don't visit the islands at least for a little you didn't really play FRLG, you just played RBY with better graphics.
The islands are small so they don't take long to explore. I like the pokemon in them and their uniqueness. If you didn't like the game I don't see why you woulf like them either.
