Thing's as dumb as it gets, and the shitfest among ben 10 fans was amazing. Luckily for everyone, the mon was not canon, as the game and the contest were CN's doing and not man of action, which had the rights to the franchise (no idea how this holds up after thr most recent reboot).
Point is, imagine the same thing, just that this time, whatever gamefreak pitches as their winner is comsidered a canon mon. Also add to this, that gamefreak will alqays put its children demographic first and above manchildren and such, which like it or not are still the most capable fakemon designers. Pokemon drawn by kids would be the things getting picked up in these contests. And if everybody already argues a lot about whatever new official mon revealed, imagine the reaction towards something drawn by a kid that is more canon than your epic fakemon will ever be. The shitfest on the pokemon fandom, which is way bigger (and arguably way more autistic) than the ben 10 fandom, would be of epic proportions, and we'd get a shitfest EVERY YEAR. Nintendo might end up literally losing money, which is why they'd never allow this, and in the timelines where they do, it never goes well.
