People prefer Y because the Cover Legendary battle is harder than X and that Lysandre dying is better than thinking that he is still living but under ruins forever.

The Delta episode wasn't just telling us about the difference between the mega and non-mega time line, it was telling us every game, even every save file is it's own canon.

Mega versus non-mega is the branch of the tree, each game is a twig on the branch and each save file is the leaf on the twig.
