Here's how I see it. Next gen, and every gen afterwards, Lycanroc is not going to be considered that big of a deal. People won't care that it started with 2 forms and then got, theoretically, 2 more. It'll be an established Pokémon with 4 forms, and that's it. If Dusk and the theoretical Dawn form look like transitions between the original two, then we've got ourselves a Pokémon whose forms look like they're morphing into each other, and that's a cool concept.
I'm not denying that Dusk Form took little to no effort to come up with, though I do love the color choices and think the mane makes it look better than Midday form. It is, regardless, a minimal effort design and nothing to get too excited about. But it's cool, it adds a lot to the Pokémon as far as its long-term appeal is concerned, and I look forward to the hypothetical Dawn Form to balance everything out.
