With the amount of times people confuse "the 3D models are bad!" with "the posing and animations are bland!" leads me to believe that /vp/ really isn't artistically proficient. I wouldn't expect them to understand animation, which is an even more subtle, detail intensive skill.
I tend to like my stuff looking sharper, but SM's art style has some serious merit for the sake of animation. It's softer, rounder, and looser, so they can perform more exaggerated motions easier while staying within their art style. It doesn't look off going from goofy everyday slice-of-life moments, to intense action scenes.
Again, just prefacing, I think the overall quality of the anime as a whole is shit and has been shit since the first episode. I'm just defending the animation of SM because it looks like they actually gave the most miniscule shit that they've ever gave in their entire careers. I'm sure that won't stop some autist from accusing me of shilling Lillie over Serena/Iris/Generic female insert, or whatever stupid waifu faggotry, though...
