If they'd always existed for basically as long as we could remember, it wouldn't even be seen as weird; they can talk and reason and do all the important human stuff, they're just shaped a bit different. It'd be a race thing, not a monster thing. Some people would look down on them, but that's nothing new to humanity. We barely get along with each other now.
If they suddenly popped up one day, things would be a lot more divided, probably more extremely. You'd have people being scared and disgusted with the idea of relationships with them, and you'd have people that would find the abrupt addition to the population fascinating and amazing, and would want to know more about them. Intimately or otherwise.
Personally, I'd be in the latter group. A few animal parts is basically just cosmetic. In the case of something more extreme like a centaur, well... I think I'd usually stick to a more normal body type, but if I met a girl like that and we hit it off well enough... eh, humans are adaptable. I could maybe give it a try.
