If gamefreak is enough of a bitter bitch to make vespiquen and salazzle gender-dependant evos while leaving their male prevos permanently useless just to make a design point, there's virtually no reason why male lanturns shouldn't be parasitic chinchou-looking motherfuckers that are implied to stick by a big lanturn female their whole life. Or for male oricorio to be colorful girly-looking birds while females are all as boring as female unfezant. Or for them to invent their own unique gender dimorphisms, even! make female machamp even bigger than male machamp, and imply they're stronger and dominant in nature, like amazone warriors or something. Make female lurantis bigger and more feral than male lurantis and imply they eat their partner's head (SM had no shortage of dark dex entries, this shouldn't be a problem). Make female durant extremely rare and evolve into a queen ant that is in war with vespiquen. If they're so fixed in building an universe with alternate realities and complex lore they might as well just make their world livelier by adding flavor to the pokemon's biology.
