You mean like how they locked Ash-Greninja behind the demo?

Battle Bond Greninja is coded as a separate form rather than just another ability for Greninja. Battle Bond has no effect on any other Pokemon, not even another Greninja.

This event Rockruff also likely has a unique forme ID that makes it evolves into Dusk Lycanroc.

That's interesting, I didn't actually know that. But at least in that case they're pretending it's the Ability that makes it different, which means they can easily make the Ability available in later gens and actually have it matter there. You can't trade back to older gens, so only hackers would know they changed anything.

Neither Rockruff nor Lycanroc have IDs for another form in the actual game, the Lycanroc form only had an ID on the PGL

The actual game only has:

Lycanroc (Midday)
Lycanroc-1 (Midnight)

Dusk will be Lycanroc-2.

Since USUM will have to add another ID for Dusk Lycanroc, they can also add a "Rockruff-1" ID for the Rockruff that evolves into it.

The distro events for the 13th Pokemon movie, the Zoroark/Celebi one, was your choice of a shiny legendary beast (they had minor roles in the movie) as the ticket event and a Celebi as the theater distro event. If you sent these Pokemon to BW once that game got released, you could show one of the beasts to a woman to receive a Zoroark and the Celebi to a boy to receive a Zorua. This was the only way to obtain these Pokemon ingame until B2W2 came out.

More or less, they tried recreating Lucario's immense success without realizing WHY it was so successful.
Lucario had a solid typing, solid stats, a great movepool, a move that also happens to be one of the few Special-based Fighting Moves while being one of the best, a simple means of being obtained, was used by quite a few notable trainers (Maylene, Riley and Cynthia) and was designed specifically to be universally appealing to both West and East.
Meanwhile Zoroark has a mediocre Pure Dark Typing, meh-tier stats, a so-and-so movepool, an ex-signature move that's basically a less-shit Mud Slap, a mediocre gimmick that was ruined by the fact it came in a generation too early, is unobtainable period in B1W1 without Event Pokemon, was only ever used by N and just seems to be a plain ol' furfags wet dream.

Also it turns out Salazzle makes a REALLY good disguise for Zoroark. They both learn Flamethrower and Nasty Plot, a timid Zoroark can match a modest Salazzle's speed, and Zoroark is immune to Psychic, one of Salazzle's weaknesses.

Thing is, OT doesn't just run by name; you also need a certain ID number for you to count as that Trainer. Two Trainers named "Adrian" will not register as the same OT for a Buizel caught by Adrian. The Rockruff could have an exclusive-ID number.
