Don't add unnecessary retard humor like "weed 420 Pikachu xD". Don't always use Ash in his original series clothes because it stopped being relevant 15 years ago and is only briefly relevant again now because of the new movie. Don't just make jokes that people who haven't played Pokémon in over 15 years will get, because it implies that you have a very limited understanding of what you're joking about.
Try making a joke about RNG abuse. Not a lot of people are familiar with it, but you can make light of the ridiculous amount of research Pokémon games bring about, and how it took until Pokémon X and Y for the 3DS to finally be significantly cracked. Maybe make a joke about the evolving art style over the years. Do a joke that actual Pokémon fans will enjoy.
