Nowadays with twitter, artists even upload early samples before they even submit their works for events so that people can look forward to their stuff early on. Twitter also made it so that you can instantly get updates on doujins by following artists whereas back then you pretty much had to go the event and see what stuff was there, and you can very easily miss out on stuff because not only is the place huge but the event takes place in 3 days with each day having different people.
