>>33288339People are fooled into thinking that screentime = character development, which just isn't true. In reality Cynthia is just as bland as any other Pokemon character, but even less interesting from a design standpoint. She's conventionally attractive, is a champion, and has a strong Pokemon team and that's it. None of those things actually make for a well-written character or a well-designed character. She has supportive traits without any defining traits.
People just latch on to Cynthia because she's good looking and was one of the more challenging champion fights. /vp/ scrapes the bottom of the barrel for any way to pass off her "involvement" in the game as story or character development so they can convince themselves that the reason(s) they like her aren't entirely shallow.
Cynthia doesn't have character. Which is good for them so they can impose whatever they like onto her, I suppose.
